Credit Karma determines Approval Odds by comparing your credit profile to other Credit Karma members who were approved for the product shown, or whether you meet certain criteria determined by the lender. Of course, there's no such thing as a sure thing, but knowing your Approval Odds may help you narrow down your choices. For example, you may not be approved because you don't meet the lender's "ability to pay standard" after they verify your income and employment; or, you already have the maximum number of accounts with that specific lender.

The building design was based on an American concept of a business block, while the breezeway and arrangement of rooms at the rear reflect the Mexican tradition of an inner courtyard. The Avila Adobe is LA’s oldest house still standing in its original location, and is designated as California Historic Landmark #145. Originally built in 1818 by Francisco José Avila, it has since been the home to many of his family members and descendants. The cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde are some of the most notable and best preserved in North America. Sometime during the late 1190s, after primarily living on the mesa tops for 600 years, many Ancestral Pueblo people began moving into pueblos they built into natural cliff alcoves. The structures ranged in size from one-room granaries to villages of more than 150 rooms. While still farming the mesa tops, they lived in cliff dwellings, repairing, remodeling, and constructing new rooms for nearly a century. In the mid-1200s, the population began migrating to the south, into present-day New Mexico and Arizona. The 2.2-acre LA Plaza de Cultura Y Artes campus includes two historic and newly renovated buildings (the Vickrey-Brunswig Building and Plaza House) that are surrounded by 30,000 square feet of public gardens.

Architecture

If you live in Pueblo, there's a good chance you've passed an important piece of history on your daily commute without even realizing it. Through feast days, she celebrated her culture with dancing, food, storytelling, and prayers - where she gained a deep appreciation for the Pueblo way of life and the values that became intrinsic to the way she approaches her job. In the past 500 years, Native Americans have faced genocide, dislocation, and various forms of physical, mental, and social abuse. These factors have led to high rates of violence, assault, and abuse among the Native American people today. Pueblo Native Americans are one of the oldest cultures in the United States, originating approximately 7,000 years ago. To learn about other types of ancient dwellings, please see the Mesa Top Sites page.

The Italian presence at El Pueblo begins in 1823, when Giovanni Leandri opened a store and built an adobe where the Plaza Firehouse now stands. In the 19th century, significant numbers of Italians lived at El Pueblo and owned or operated one-third of businesses in the Plaza area. Mrs. L.M Bigelow and Griffin Johnston claimed that the site belonged to them, and in early 1891, the Supreme Court decided in their favor. The lease with Mrs. Bigelow expired in 1897 and the City decided to build all future stations only on municipally-owned land, thus ending the Plaza Firehouse's life as a fire station.

The walls of the Avila house are made of adobe brick, a material consisting of clay, water and other organic materials like straw. Materials used in the construction of Pueblo architectural forms include clay, sand and silt, grasses and reeds, water, stone, and timber. Although building materials are often locally sourced, some materials travel great distances. The exterior was stuccoed with sand, lime and oyster dust shells, then it was painted blue, green, or pink. Made without foundations, the walls were built from slots that were 25 centimeters deep. Traditional pueblo construction used limestone blocks or large adobe bricks; the latter were made from clay and water and generally measured approximately 8 by 16 inches (20 by 40 cm), with a thickness of 4 to 6 inches (10 to 15 cm).

Hear from a Modern Pueblo Native American

Following Christopher Columbus' voyage to the New World, Spain embarked on claiming various North American territories. In the 15th century, Spanish colonization's detrimental effects befell the peaceful Pueblo tribes — resulting in censorship of Pueblo culture and religious practices. Pueblo refers to the settlements and to the Native American tribes of the Pueblo peoples in the Southwestern United States, currently in New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas. The permanent communities, including some of the oldest continually occupied settlements in the United States, are called pueblos (lowercased).

Main characteristics of Pueblo architecture

Although the Main Street facade has not changed significantly, the Olvera Street facade has been altered and repaired over the years. The theatre was built by William Abbot, the son of Swiss immigrants who settled in Los Angeles in 1854. In 1858, he married the woman for whom he would name the theatre, Maria Merced Garcia, the daughter of José Antonio Garcia and María Guadalupe Uribe, who were long-time residents of the Los Angeles pueblo.

However, recent trends have shown a more conservative shift among some voters. The area is politically active, with residents participating in local and state elections. Located in southern Colorado, Pueblo sits in a valley along the Arkansas River, surrounded by rolling hills with the Rocky Mountains not too far off.

Cliff Dwellings

The Sepulveda House is a 22-room Victorian house built in 1887 in the Eastlake Victorian style. The original structure included two commercial businesses on the Main Street side and three residences on Olvera Street. The Sepulveda House represents the architectural and social transformation of Los Angeles from a city of purely Mexican traditions to a multicultural blend of Mexican and American cultures.

Adobe is made from a mixture of clay, sand or silt, straw, and water, and is often formed into bricks that are held in place with a clay-based mortar. Late 19th-century photographs of Zuni and Taos Pueblos show many ladders raised against the walls of multi-leveled adobe buildings, as well as ladders emerging from interior rooms. The structures contained within these alcoves were mostly blocks of hard sandstone, held together and plastered with adobe mortar. Specific constructions had many similarities, but were generally unique in form due to the individual topography of different alcoves along the canyon walls. Her grandparents maintained the Pueblo culture in their family, and her mom ensured that she and her siblings were taught Pueblo values from a young age.

Today, adobe-style homes are most commonly found in the Southwestern United States. Cities such as Santa Fe and Albuquerque, New Mexico require specific design guidelines in their historic areas, making these types of homes even more common. Florida and Southern California also house many adobe-style homes due to their hot, extreme weather. Adobe-style homes have a unique, rustic look, but their features are rooted in functionality. The spatial organization of a typical Pueblo village is arranged to reflect the structure of the universe and to symbolize the ancestral search for the middle place.

For a period of time, pueblos throughout the Southwest were connected by a network of roads that radiated from Chaco Canyon, which is believed to have been a cultural epicenter. Remnants of this roadway system are evident throughout New Mexico and Arizona today. Hundreds of Ancestral Puebloan dwellings are found across the American Southwest. With almost all constructed well before 1492 CE, these Puebloan towns and villages are located throughout the geography of the Southwest.

In the 1930s, after the Mexican marketplace had opened on Olvera Street, Christine Sterling persuaded Forman Brown and his partners to open their “Yale Puppeteers” in the building. She also invited photographers Viroque Baker and Ernest Pratt to set up their studios on the second floor. In the 1940s during World War II, a USO canteen was located in the building, providing a refuge to the thousands of troops passing through Union Station. Today, the Avila Adobe is open to the public as a museum and is furnished as it might have appeared in the late 1840s. It attracts over 300,000 visitors annually and is a wonderfully tranquil space in the heart of the big city. The district was first listed in the National Register of Historic Places on November 3, 1972.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick M I.Kiss previously Bond Girl

charlotte tilbury m.i. kiss

This lipstick will always be one of my favorites in terms of formula and colour. Let's start with the colour -- I've never seen anything quite like it, even with my collection of my-lips-but-better shades in their various iterations. Interestingly, after looking at various photos from lip swatches and reviews to help me make my decision, I felt that every person wearing this colour had slightly different (but good results).

"Cashmere-soft, this is a matte with depth. "

Her outsize personality is lovingly parodied on TikTok, and she’s prone to referencing the stars—both longtime friends like Kate Moss, her children’s godmother, and those twinkling in the cosmos—as well as energy frequencies. Tilbury says, “I don’t want to see invisible women,” so her products make eyes look brighter and complexions more dewy, and are known for creating an intensely glamorous effect. This month, two police officers were killed outside a home near Syracuse, N.Y., during a shootout after they were following up on a traffic violation. In February, two police officers and a paramedic were killed near Minneapolis after a man, who was barricaded in his home, opened fire on the police. Officers returned fire, and the gunman was later reported dead. Why has the charlotte tilbury gift been out of stock since Feb.

After a long standoff, two women in the home were taken to a police station to be interviewed, the police later said in a statement. When they approached the residence, the suspect, later identified as Terry Clark Hughes Jr., fired at them with an AR-15-style rifle and a 40-caliber handgun from the second floor of a house, the police said. The officers returned fire and struck Mr. Hughes, 39. He was later pronounced dead in the front yard of the residence.

The violent episode on Monday was one of the deadliest attacks on law enforcement in recent years. In July 2016, five officers were killed in Texas after an armed sniper opened fire in downtown Dallas during a demonstration against fatal police shootings. Four Dallas police officers and one transit officer were killed. The police killed the gunman, Micah Johnson, 25, with an explosive sent by a remote-controlled robot. Eight law officers were shot on Monday, four fatally, as a U.S.

Duplicate a high-end product or never buy the same shade twice.

But given the slightly more solid consistency, I do think that this tube will be lasting a while (couple years). I will definitely be repurchasing when I run out, which goes to show how much I love this lipstick. Darlings, lip liner is every woman’s backstage, red carpet, secret weapon! This nourishing, velvety-rich formula is the key to creating fuller, wider, perfected lips. "This is so soft for a matte lipstick. You would never feel your lips dry which is absolutely incredible! To give a nice dimension to the final look, I love using this lipstick with a lip pencil one shade darker."

Charlene Middleton, a 36-year-old school counselor, has lived in the area her whole life and, since 2015, in a home across the street from where the incident occurred. When she returned home from work in the evening, she said, she saw casings scattered all over the street, as well as a large police presence. “He fought for several hours and passed away from his injuries with his wife and family by his side tonight,” Chief Jennings said in a statement posted to social media on Monday evening. “I am truly grateful for his bravery, service and ultimate sacrifice,” he said.

Marshals fugitive task force tried to serve a warrant in Charlotte, N.C., the police said, in one of the deadliest days for law enforcement in recent years. 2.Fill in your lips with the lip liner to create the perfect base for your lipstick and make it last longer. Charlotte Tilbury Mrs Kisses Matte Revolution Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a muted, medium brown with moderate, warm undertones and a satin finish. It had rich color coverage in a single pass, which adhered evenly on my lips, though the product separated slightly around my deeper lip lines. Thankfully, this was only apparent in the close-up photos but not something I detected in person.

In all, four members of the task force were shot, three of whom died. The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction said in a statement that two of its veteran officers, Sam Poloche and Alden Elliott, were killed. The U.S. Marshals Service confirmed that one of its deputy marshals, Thomas Weeks, was among those killed.

The task force is made up of officers from multiple agencies. Here are our dupes for Charlotte Tilbury MI Kiss (was Bond Girl), which is a very warm-toned, medium plum with a matte finish. It is a permanent lipstick that retails for $37.00 and contains 0.12 oz. She is famous, like Dolly Parton, for sleeping in her makeup. Charlotte Tilbury MI Kiss Matte Revolution Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark rosy plum with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque, buildable coverage (finally!) that applies smoothly with a lightweight consistency. This shade had more slip than most shades in the range, but it was also lightly hydrating over the five hours it wore for. Four members of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department were also shot, one of whom died from his injuries on Monday night, the police said on social media. The officer, Joshua Eyer, who had been with the department for six years, was helping other officers arrest the suspect when he was shot, the police said.

Guide to Havensight Terminal, St Thomas Cruise Port 2023

st. thomas cruise port

If you book during these months, regularly check with your cruise line for departure delays and itinerary alterations. Crown Bay is mainly used by Cunard Line, Princess Cruises, Holland America, and Royal Caribbean. Havensightis is mainly used by Celebrity Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Disney Cruise Line, Carnival Cruise Line, and Royal Caribbean (non-Oasis class ships). The Yacht Haven Marina was severely hit during the 2017 Hurricane Season. All the high-end shops have closed, but the restaurants are back (some have changed hands), and the grounds are back into their former glory.

Shopping at Main Street

Soak it all up as you soar through what looks like a National Geographic ad. If you become hungry, there’s no shortage of good food in the city. Check out the Stone House Cafe, Amalie Cafe, Rum Island Pub, and Virgilio’s. This procedure usually goes fairly smooth and your ship may even distribute tender tickets to time your departure and avoid overcrowding at peak times. Once you arrive in St. John, you will find that there is a lot to do, such as exploring the Virgin Islands National Park or relaxing in the quaint Cruz Bay.

Getting Around Charlotte Amalie – St. Thomas

Unfortunately, neither of the two ports offers complimentary public Wi-Fi, but it’s not too difficult to find. Havensight Mall provides free Wi-Fi, and it is located just a five-minute walk from the Havensight Pier. For those planning to rent a vehicle while they visit St. Thomas, plenty of parking spots are available near the two ports.

St Thomas Island USVI (Charlotte Amalie, US Virgin Islands)

The first is the Havensight Pier, also known as the West India Company Dock, where most ships will dock. There are more than 50 shops and restaurants located right at the pier, with other stores (including K-mart) located nearby. Beach chairs, umbrellas, and snorkeling equipment are available for rental, and you can also purchase food and drinks at a small open-air grill nearby. Sapphire Beach Resort, Condos, and Marina are also within walking distance from the beach. To get to Charlotte Amalie downtown, you can walk which I wouldn’t recommend, as it’s too long and not very scenic (30-40 minutes walking distance). A taxi rank is outside the pier, the rates are displayed and taxis are shared; it costs around $5 per person one way to go to the city center.

Attractions and Activities

And, you will also find changing rooms, bathhouses with freshwater showers, numerous booths dotting along the beach where you can commission beach chairs and umbrellas. The beach is also accessible to several restaurants, bars, and shops. When you’re looking for things to do in the Caribbean, one of the more obvious places to start is checking out the beach options. St. Thomas has two cruise ports - - The West India Company Dock (almost universally referred to as Havensight) and Crown Bay.

You’ll also find some island exclusives, like Mojo’s, Barefoot Buddha, and the iconic Shipwreck Tavern. With both ports located such a convenient distance from a major airport, you shouldn’t have difficulty finding your way to your ship if you fly into St. Thomas. Renting a car may be a good way to enjoy and exploration of St Thomas on your own.

Where You Dock in Charlotte Amalie – St. Thomas

As at Havensight, guests enter and exit the ships via gangways through the shell doors. If your cruise ship docks at the Crown Bay, walking to Charlotte Amalie is quite a stretch (over 2 miles) and not particularly pleasant until you get close to town. If shopping is not in your plans and the cruise traveler just wants to go out to explore the attractions of St Thomas, or spend a day on the beach the taxi dispatch is by the exit of the mall. Keep reading to learn more about how to get around by taxi in St Thomas.

Many available shore excursions will take you to Coki Beach, so it’s very popular with tourists. As you walk out of any of the four exit gates there will be taxis offering transportation to all main attractions, beaches, a simple ride to Charlotte Amalie or even a sightseeing tour of the Island. This 225-yard-long trail lies just 30 yards off the beach and allows visitors to enjoy an up-close encounter with St John’s vibrant marine life featuring corals, parrotfish, yellowtails, and turtles.

If you’re looking for free or inexpensive things to do in St. Thomas, there are a few ideas. One of the quieter beaches you can enjoy is Honeymoon Beach on Water Island. It’s a small and simple beach, but the water is beautiful and clear. There’s a cute little hot dog and burger restaurant, where you can grab a bite to eat in paradise. The most popular beach for cruisers and those who want to snorkel, is Trunk Bay. Perfect for families and kids, this beach has an underwater snorkeling trail that’s accessible from the beach and close to the shoreline.

The fee is only for Royal Caribbean Group/RCG-owned ships from RCG's subsidiaries RCI-Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Silversea Cruises. If you are looking for a relaxed beach escape, take the ferry over to Water Island. It costs $15 round trip per person and only takes about ten minutes. Accessing the ferry is easier if you dock at Crown Bay, as you can walk straight through the cruise port to the Crown Bay Marina. The ferry sails from Dock D, which is located directly next to Tickles Dockside Pub. Just a few minutes walk from the Havensight cruise port, you’ll find the Sky Ride to Paradise Point.

Find a representative of the taxi union to agree on a price and get you on a taxi to your destination of the day. The prices above are one way prices, from Havensight cruise dock to destination. In just a day or two, you’re given a snapshot of the Caribbean soul.

Ships docking at Crown Bay are usually those with a deeper draft like Royal Caribbean’s Oasis class ships, Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 and several Holland America and Princess ships. Cruise lines that dock at Havensight include Carnival, Celebrity, Norwegian and most Royal Caribbean ships except for their Oasis class ships. Make sure to pack your sunscreen, sun hat, maybe a daypack and get ready for a visit that includes relaxation, adventure, shopping and a bit of pirate lore. Deciding what things to do in St. Thomas with only one day in port can be a bit overwhelming. There are so many interesting and exciting activities to pick and choose. Prior to booking your ticket, look at the prices of going directly with your cruise line or on your own.

Make sure you check out the legendary Billy Joe’s Beach Restaurant & Bar, a hotspot for both locals and tourists popular for its delicious conch, beer, and sweeping sea views. It is a beautiful area to walk around, filled with multicolored houses, palm trees, food and drink stands, arts and crafts stores, and places to sit and relax. The taxi rank and bus parking (which is usually a shore excursion meeting place unless indicated differently on your tour ticket) are located within the port complex, a short walking distance from your ship. Pirate’s Cove Zipline and Water Park is located on Taino Beach and is a very popular location if you are traveling from the cruise port. If you choose to go to this location, I recommend to book your taxi ride when you arrive in port and do not pay more than $20 per person ROUND TRIP for transportation to go to Pirate’s Cove. Pirate’s Cove also has free wifi, a bar, and food available for purchase.

Here you can keep yourself cool from the hot sun while having fun splashing around with your family. No matter your interests, there is something for everyone in Freeport, including white sandy beaches, cultural experiences, and delicious food. As mentioned before, the main things to do in Freeport are not close to the cruise port terminal. The COVID-19 pandemic hit the cruise industry hard, shutting it down completely. Carnival Cruise Lines was the first cruise line to restart its operations, sailing with a select number of ships at limited capacity beginning in July 2021. The final ship in the company’s fleet set sail from Seattle in May 2022. Other major cruise lines, including Norwegian, Celebrity, Disney, and Holland America, are sailing in some capacity and have plans for a full re-entry into the cruise industry.

Obviously, all cruise lines offer many and diverse shore excursions in Freeport, which include the most exciting activities and highlights of Grand Bahama Island. Norwegian Cruise Line has available 15 shore excursions, and Royal Caribbean has 16 excursions available. Freeport is a regularly visited cruise port of call in the Caribbean during the Fall-Winter season, with as many as 400,000 passengers and over 150 cruise ships visits in 2019. Taxi drivers are readily available at the cruise dock and offer a convenient way to reach popular tourist destinations such as Port Lucaya, with its vibrant market and breathtaking beaches.

Paradise Cove offers kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, and beach volleyball. You can also rent snorkel equipment to explore Deadman’s Reef located a short swim from the shore. About 40 miles east of Freeport lies the East End, an area of Grand Bahama that’s more off the beaten path for tourists.

You can rent a car online with Avis, or walk to the kiosk of Island Jeep and Car Rental in the cruise terminal on arrival day. Celebrity Eco tours also has a shop in the cruise terminal where you can rent a car or a scooter. The cruise port terminal has a delightful ambiance, the area is very clean and immaculately kept. On the whole, Freeport is safe but it is advisable to use caution in crowded areas considering that there have been reports of tourists having purses snatched.

Carnival’s Celebration Key will be featuring a retail destination called Lokono Cove, named by Grand Bahamian Deidre Ramhming, who sent in the winning name in an island-wide contest. THE Cruise Packing Checklist: 85 Items To Bring Printable

They’re super stylish and come in four neutral colors, offering ankle support, removable insoles, and sleek leather trims to make them more stylish and comfortable than your average athletic kicks. In addition to being waterproof, which is useful if you’re caught out in one of Florida’s famous sun showers, these shoes are also certified for sustainability. So if you have a bottle of your favorite shampoo you want to bring or simply have an 8-ounce bottle of sunscreen, go ahead and pack it.

Refillable Water Bottles

Cross-body bags with secure locks or a money belt are good options. It never hurts to stick an umbrella or rain ponchos in your bag in case any tropical showers pop up. Whether it is a beach day, bicycle tour, or snorkeling, there are a few things you should probably include for your port days.

The Corkcicle bottle is insulated, has a fun floral design from Rifle Paper Co., and can keep drinks cold for up to 25 hours, according to the company. I love that the lid is designed with a built-in straw, which is a little more environmentally friendly. Packing trackers, such as Apple AirTags, in luggage and any other bags can help make embarkation day feel a little less stressful, especially if anything gets lost. No matter where you’re sailing, you must bring identification. A colorful or unique passport cover will help you quickly find it in your bag. Before getting into what to pack, it’s important to know that this list is organized into categories.

Save Room in Your Suitcase for Cruise Souvenirs

Keep your daily newsletters, invitations and excursion tickets in order with magnetic clips affixed above the desk. You can never entirely predict the weather where you are cruising. Even on a Caribbean cruise, you could encounter an afternoon rain storm or chilly dining rooms and theaters on board. Prioritize clothing you can layer, such as sweaters, lightweight vests and zip-up hoodies. Men often have it even easier, getting by with a single pair of dress sneakers for an entire cruise.

Pack a complete change of clothes and necessary toiletries in your carry-on bag. No matter what kind of luggage you take, checked and carry-on bags should have personal tags with your name, email address and phone number. It should also be easily distinguished from other bags from a distance. You can use brightly colored handle wraps, zip ties, ribbons, straps or stretchy covers over the whole bag.

Toss wet bathing suits into one of these bags and pack it in your suitcase without worrying about getting the rest of your clothes wet. These wet-dry bags are large enough for at least two adult-sized swimsuits. With more and more destinations banning single-use plastics, it’s an increasingly good idea to BYO water bottle on any trip. Like hotels, most cruise ships will provide basic toiletries, including shampoo, conditioner, soap, and/or body wash. But if you choose to bring your own, you won’t have to worry about using travel-size containers if you checked your bag—cruise ships have no size restrictions for liquids.

Free Vacation Planning Services

Make sure to check your specific cruise line’s list of restricted items. While many may want to take advantage of the rare opportunity to dress up, few people have a closet full of formal attire at their disposal. Clothing rental services are an affordable way to get glam on the high seas without overspending or cluttering up your closet with an outfit you’ll only wear once. Rent the Runway offers one time rentals for special occasions and monthly subscriptions (cancel anytime) in 5, 10, and 20 item bundles for those who want to round out their cruise wardrobe. In this post we went over what to pack for a cruise, as well as over 60 useful cruise packing tips and hacks for new and experienced cruisers. I’ve also included some of the most useful cruise items that can make your cruise easier as well.

Cruises may be known for relaxation, but depending on where you’re sailing to, you’ll likely have the option to go on an adventurous water sports excursion. I have a tendency to sign up for jet skiing whenever it’s offered. In the past, I’ve purchased a waterproof phone pouch like this one while on my trip — but buying one in advance can help you save money and ensure you show up prepared. Depending on your cruise line, the brand offers two different size options and packs of four, six, eight, or 20 holders. The narrow option is suitable for Royal Caribbean and Celebrity cruise lines while the wide option can be used for Carnival, Norwegian, Princess, MSC, Holland America, Viking, Azamara, and Costa Cruises. Shoppers say the luggage tag holders, which have over 1,600 five-star ratings, feel sturdy on their bags and save them time at check-in.

If you have specific products you like to use, it’s a good idea to pack your toiletries in leakproof travel containers. Hard sided luggage with spinner wheels will also make it so much easier to travel before and after your cruise. The hard shell will protect your luggage from the weather, and keep your clothing and other items dry.

cruise packing

Royal Caribbean does not have a specific limit on the number of suitcases. For most, this will be guided by transportation options, especially flying, which has restrictions on both the size and weight of bags. Shoe bags prevent sand or dirt from getting on your clothes and other belongings. I don't know about you, but my flip-flops and water shoes do not belong next to my snorkel or my water bottle. Even if you're flying straight from home to the cruise port, pack like you're spending a night in a hotel.

Embarking on a cruise is an exhilarating journey, promising adventures on the high seas and unforgettable memories at exotic ports. These shoes for kids and adults are great if you’re headed to the beach or a day resort. They come in an abundance of colors and can be customized with charms. Radio frequency identification, commonly known as RFID, is a high-tech way to steal credit card information. To protect yourself on excursions, carry cards in an RFID-blocking wallet.

If you're packing a straw hat, you'll need to protect it inside your luggage. If there's extra space, wrap the bra bag with a pair of tights or yoga pants. The best part about organizing your cruise luggage with packing cubes is that unpacking is super quick. Recently, I got off a small commuter jet in Phoenix that had required all passengers to gate-check our roll-aboard bags. As I ran to my connecting gate 10 minutes later, I heard an announcement alerting passengers from my earlier flight to check they had the correct carry-on bag.

Pack more resort-casual wear if traveling to Europe or sailing to Bermuda. (Golf courses in Bermuda have strict dress codes.) Cruises to Hawaii, the Mexican Riviera and cruising in the Caribbean are generally more casual. If you’re flying to your cruise embarkation port, understand your airline’s luggage allowance and weigh your suitcase and carry-on before leaving home to ensure you’re not over the limit. I like this one from LugLife because it’s loaded with pockets inside and outside. It has plenty of room for everything you need for a day of exploring, plus it’s water-repellant and has a convenient handle on top.

Glass-Bottom Boat Cruise PCS Shore Excursions

carnival cruise princess cay

Most cruises in the region go to either Half Moon Cay or Princess Cays but not both. So, to help you plan your trip, let’s take a look at what Princess Cays has to offer on your cruise. Water, lemonade, iced tea and other hydrating drinks are available free of charge at either dining venue. Barbecue fare includes chicken and ribs, hamburgers and hotdogs, salads and sides, as well as fresh fruit and brownies.

Ultimate Guide to Princess Cays

See the main highlights of this 110-mile long island which has just one main highway. You can rent equipment or use your own and snorkel right off the beach. More advanced snorkelers wanting a better experience away from the crowds can take a boat tour that includes snorkel equipment. In March 2019, 700 acres of Eleuthera at Lighthouse Point was purchased by Disney Cruise Line. They plan to develop their own cruise port resort at a cost of around $400 million.

Bungalow Rentals on Princess Cays

These include dune buggy and sand bike tours, fishing excursions, snorkel boating and other guided tours. If you see Princess Cays listed on your cruise itinerary, it’s not a private island reserved for royals. In fact, this serene private port in the Bahamas is accessible to passengers on Princess Cruises and Carnival Cruise Line. How does it stand apart from other cruise line private island experiences? Read on to find out everything you need to know about Princess Cays.

Eleuthera is part of the Great Bahama Bank, approximately 70 miles east of Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas archipelago. Additionally, shouldbecruising.com participates in various other affiliate programs, and we sometimes receive a commission from purchases made through our links. Visitors on a Carnival cruise can’t use any shipboard drinks packages on Princess Cays. The word “cay”, meaning a small, low island, is generally pronounced like the word “key”. You’ll hear the ship’s crew and other passengers referring to the private destination as Princess “Key”, Princess “Keys”, Princess “Kay”, or Princess “Kays”. Locals, including the salespeople at the straw markets, tend to call the area Princess “Key”. Beach YourselfThe most popular pastime of all on a cruise has to be beach time, and Princess Cays does not disappoint in this department. You can also rent a beach clamshell and comfy beach chair to maximize your private island time.

Princess Cays The Bahamas

If you are looking for a more "thrilling" experience, consider Royal Caribbean's Perfect Day at CocoCay. Princess Cruises and Carnival Cruise Line share the destination as they are both owned by Carnival Corporation, so guests from either cruise line may visit Princess Cays. You will know prior to sailing if you are scheduled to visit Carnival's other private island, Half Moon Cay, or Princess Cays, as it will be clearly indicated on the itinerary when booking. Despite being an inhabited island, the resort is an oasis surrounded by trees, beaches, and crystal clear water teaming with fish. There are numerous land and water activities to keep cruisers busy during a visit.

Gotta see Princess Cays?

Youngsters can enjoy the supervised sandy play area at Pelican’s Perch which has a replica galleon for young pirates. In 1973, the Bahamas gained independence from Britain and became the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. After that, the island’s economy focused on tourism, which is now the main source of income.

Winter tends to be the dry season at Princess Cays, while summers bring more rain and often daily thunderstorms. Hurricane season in the Bahamas runs from June 1 through November 30. Princess Cays is located in the Bahamas, on the southern end of the island of Eleuthera.

carnival cruise princess cay

One of the best things to do in Princess Cays is to head to one of the beaches and sunbathe with a refreshing drink. Or, if you're not keen on getting wet, rent beach chairs with shady clamshell coverings, so you can stay out of the unrelenting sun while you read or nap on the beach. What are some of your favorite things to do at this private cruise destination? Drop us an anchor below to share your experiences visiting Princess Cays in the Bahamas.

Past the beach chairs, lunch buffet and bungalows came the fun part – what seemed like miles and miles of mostly secluded beach. Marlowe found coral, hermit crabs, sea slugs, tropical fish galore, and so much more. We could only see one group of people just past us, the others all left behind enjoying their relaxing beach chairs and their adventure water sports. Princess cruisers can use their drink packages at the private island destination. However, none of the bars offer fountain soda—only cans—so you’ll have to pay for soda even with a beverage package.

Experienced snorkelers can even book tickets to see marine life with a guide at a live coral reef. Cruisers have the opportunity to buy tickets to feed and interact with friendly stingrays at a cove near the tender dock, or try your hand at surf fishing just offshore. Equipment rentals are available to book before your cruise as well. When you pre-pay for rentals, you’ll have a ticket delivered to your stateroom that you can redeem at the rental desk.

This is a great spot to watch colorful fish swimming around its piers. It’s also a good place to snap a pic of your ship, especially if you don’t want to climb the stairs to the top of the Crow’s Nest. All the bungalows at Princess Cays are located on the far end of the main part of the resort, past the main beach area and North Beach.

Medallion Net WiFi is available (for a fee) for guests visiting Princess Cays on a Princess ship. The WiFi is not accessible to guests visiting on a Carnival cruise. There are small private bungalows for rent on Princess Cays, including adults-only bungalows in the exclusive Sanctuary area. Unlike some private island destinations, Princess Cays isn’t huge—you can walk from one end to the other in about ten or fifteen minutes. Between North Beach and the snorkeling area is the Offshore Pavilion.

Princess Cays is one of a number of private destinations owned or leased by cruise lines, and these are becoming more and more popular. The one-hour tour is kid- and adult-friendly, and an onboard guide will help you identify different species of fish and coral as you survey the underwater world through large glass windows. Morning departures mean you have the entire afternoon to get in the water yourself afterward or enjoy the above-sand world on Princess Cays. Princess Cays is a tender port, meaning cruisers must be able to board a smaller ship, or tender, to reach the shore.

Enjoying the perfect (PERFECT) weather, the warm sunshine, light breeze and nature. And when our bellies were hungry again, we worked our way back through the path to the lunch area. We filled up on pineapple and veggie fried rice and then made our way back to the ship to unwind from a near perfect day. Thank you Carnival for letting us explore the magical island of Princess Cays, we loved it. While there are rows and rows of beach chairs for you to use at your convenience, at any time you wish, we were ready to explore. I feel like a broken record lately when I talk about how much I love and miss the warm sunshine, but I can’t help it.

There have been some sightings of smaller nurse sharks on snorkeling excursions from Princess Cays but even these are rare. It is generally very safe to snorkel off the island, and the expert guides are on hand to reassure you and explain what wildlife you will see. While the legal drinking age across the Bahamas is 18, that doesn’t apply on Princess Cays. As it is a privately-owned resort, the minimum drinking age of the cruise line applies, and that is 21.

SOLO TRAVELERS

As an Australian living in the U.S. for almost a decade, I generally find Americans to be open, talkative and curious. The parties take place poolside, where laughter and joy mingle with the ocean breeze. Embrace the freedom to be your authentic self, surrounded by friends who accept and celebrate you for who you are. The night is still young, and it's time to immerse yourself in the themed party of the evening. One special inclusion I appreciated was a meetup for solo travelers every night at the bar outside the restaurant, after which we'd all dine together at a large group table.

Going into the cruise, one of my biggest questions was, "Would people be hooking up all over the ship in public places?" On this particular Vacaya cruise, I did not see anything like that. (I can't speak for other sailings, though.) However, sexual expression was a prominent feature of the cruise — and I loved it. Throughout the cruise, passengers went all out dressing up in elaborate costumes to show off their creativity at theme parties — usually with DJs Corey Craig or Susan Morabito at the helm. The DJs largely catered to an audience who preferred electronic dance music (EDM), and some passengers, including myself, wished there was a bit more variety. Afternoons are when the fun really gets started.

Glee star Amber Riley paid homage to soulful divas like Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, and Whitney Houston. Actress Susie Mosher added comedic levity as the host of a show where fearless passengers sang their favorite tunes. We recognize that a vacation starts with knowing all the important information about your travels with us.

The Miss America incident wasn’t Williams’s only origin of queer empathy. She “lost so many friends through the AIDS crisis.” That galvanized her as an activist. During the interview, she counts five guests from her first wedding in the 80s alone who became victims of the epidemic. Vanessa Williams had “an extraordinary experience” during her performance on last week’s VACAYA cruise of the Caribbean.

No drink tickets were included in the cruise fare, but the tickets were available in a bulk discount before sailing. They were stationed around the ship, as well as at Vacaya's pop-up support desk, to field all questions and address any concerns. The team helped to connect passengers socially, bridge any communication gaps between the passengers and the cruise line, and gathered feedback to improve the trip as it progressed. Our journey starts in one of the most beautiful cities in the entire United States. Bounded by Puget Sound to the west and Lake Washington to the east, and surrounded by forests and mountains, Seattle boasts a stunning location.

I splurged an extra $45 to eat at the Tuscan Grille, and was also invited to try Le Petit Chef, which blends 3D tabletop entertainment with a delicious four-course meal. I don't drink much, so I opted out of purchasing a beverage package and paid for cocktails and wine as needed — primarily for the poolside parties. Here's why I chose vacation company Vacaya to book my first gay cruise. For real-time availability, proceed by clicking BOOK NOW. After a couple of hours on the ship, before leaving Port Everglades in Hollywood, Florida, I was pleasantly surprised by the diversity of passengers boarding. The age of passengers skewed older, but it was a microcosm of the LGBTQ+ community — different ethnicities, sexual orientations, and more. Even before setting sail, some of my preconceived notions about gay cruises seemed to fade. Nonstop parties, unwarranted comments, and a lack of diversity were a few reasons why I avoided booking a gay cruise.

Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth led the kick-off ceremony with a performance before she was declared the godmother of Vacaya. Onboard headliners included "Smash and Scorpion" star Katharine McPhee, "Glee" breakout star Alex Newell, "Will and Grace's" Leslie Jordan and Broadway's Lesli Margherita. New York cabaret favorites like Susie Mosher, Tori Scott and Michael Orland brought musical chops that made every show an "I can't believe how good this is!" moment.

And there’s no better destination for it than The Last Frontier. Alaska is one of the most beautiful places on earth, full of majesty, natural wonders, and endless romance. Unless you later modify your reservation, no further payments will be necessary.
